The Dopamine Chronicles

An almost daily cartoon about Parkinson's

Huh? Cholesterol is good for you and so are statins?

Gotta’ make you wonder! One headline says that Simvastatin may be protective of neuron destruction and stop Parkinson’s in its tracks, the next says that people with HIGH cholesterol are less likely to get Parkinson’s. Man, that’s a LOTTA swiss cheese, bacon burgers I’ve passed up!

  1. So the answer is to stuff your face with high cholesterol foods so that you need to take statins… and then keep going even harder to keep your cholesterol high while you are on the statins?! Can’t see any potential downside or side effects to that. I’m waiting at the station for this train 😉

  2. Sort of reminds you of Woody Allen’s Sleeper, tobacco and high fat foods are good for the future… If this were only really true, I shoulda never got the shakey jakes! I smoked at one time, have drunk gallons of black coffee and gotten my cholesterol and weight up in the stratosphere (ain’t there NOW mind you). Just shows to go ya’!
